This super soft yet durable lycra fly mask provides a layer of protection to prevent face rubs on sensitive-skin horses while they are wearing their halter and muzzle. Extra material behind the ears and the forelock hole stabilize the mask to help keep it from being pulled off. The mask has additional nose length to protect under the halter noseband area. Eye netting provides 30-40% UV protection.

How does the mask prevent halter rubs?
Much like how a sock prevents blisters when wearing shoes, the mask fits under the halter and helps prevent halter rubs. This mask fits a little bit longer on the nose than most and is perfect for preventing rubs in the noseband area.
Depending on where the cheek pieces of the halter sit, they can also prevent rubs in that location as well. The neck part is nice and long and can protect rubs that happen behind the ears and under the throatlatch/jaw area, too.
This is our favorite solution for preventing rubs from the halter. If using it for just this purpose, it is very easy to trim out any mesh from the ears or eyes if you don't need/want their ears or eyes covered.
Is the mask hot?
Because it fits close to the skin, the mask wicks moisture, allowing it to evaporate. This action actually helps with cooling in comparison to other masks that fit away from the face, creating a pocket of warm air between their face and the material.
Does it protect from gnats and midges?
The mesh in these masks is a 1.5 mm mesh. This size is typically small enough to prevent most types of biting gnats, flies, and midges.
